Stranded
(Guy into rooster)

I looked out of the small cave we were all huddled in. It was sunny now; even though a couple of hours ago our class's boat was hit by a freak storm. Now here we are stranded on some god forsaken uncharted island in the middle of the ocean. I turned to the fear stricken face, looking to me for guidance. "Juliet, Kara, Brianna, Seth, Allen, Amy, Zane, and myself" I counted, taking a mental note. "What should we do Mrs. Sullen?" Amy asked me. "I don't know!" I thought. I was a 24 year old geography teacher stranded on an island with a bunch of high school students. "The first thing we need to do is find drinkable water." I explained, trying to sound calm. I didn't need the student freaking out on me. I forced myself up, even though my muscles screamed in protest. "Everyone stay here. I will go and look around." I instructed. After I got out of the cave I immediately stripped out of my soaking wet clothes. "Good thing I wore my swimsuit." I thought happily. After I gave myself a mental pat on the back I gazed off into the thick jungle in front of me I took a timid step forward and stopped. It felt like something was following me. I looked into the trees, but there was nothing there. "I have to do this." I thought to myself. Without further hesitation I started into the jungle.
"Do you think Mrs. Sullen will be all right?" Juliet asked Allen. "I'm sure she'll be fine." He reassured her. Zane sat in a corner of the cave listening to these pathetic losers complaining. Zane was that emo-wannabe guy that had no friends. He finally stood up, unable to listen to them anymore. "I'm going outside." He grumbled, not caring if they answered or not. Nobody did, so he walked out of the cave. Zane strolled down the beach; even he couldn't deny the beauty this island had, even if they all were going to die here. Zane stopped. There was something a bright orange color on some rocks a few yards away. Whatever it was it wasn't moving off the rocks. Zane crept over to where the thing was and stared in surprise. Inside a small dent in the rock was a sleeping small red fox. "What in the world is a fox doing on a deserted island?" Zane wondered momentarily. His question was quickly replaced with a good idea. "Hello dinner." He chuckled, reaching for the small creature's throat. "Are you really that stupid?" A voice asked him. Zane turned and looked around the beach; there was nobody there besides him. "So I am to be your meal? I think not." The voice asked again. Zane turned and immediately found a pair of bright purple eyes.  Zane couldn't move, it was like he was trapped in his own mind. After what seemed like an eternity, Zane managed to blink and draw his attention from the fox's eyes. "So you thought you could eat me?" The fox accused angrily. Zane fearfully started to back away. "Stay away from me you 'bawk' freak." Zane's hands instantly covered his mouth, which felt hard for some reason. "Why did I just cluck?" He asked in pure fear. "Well you see I'm hungry to and my favorite meal is fresh chicken" The fox grinned at him. Zane watched as the fox jumped down from the rock and stood in front of him. "Wait is it taller?" Zane wondered. His clothes felt baggy and his nose was being swallowed up into his forming beak. "So I think I'll give you a head start." The fox said smugly. Zane took the hint and ran. As he ran his changes picked up in speed, a large red comb formed on top of his head and he continued to shrink. Feathers sprouted all over his body and his legs grew hard and scaly, tough claws made for digging at the ground tipped each of his new toes. His elbows seemed to reverse themselves and became wings. Zane desperately tried to remember anything, but even his mind was changing, becoming simple and stupid. Finally the rooster stopped running and pecked at the sand, completely unaware of what had happened to him.
Trance slipped back onto his rock and curled up. "Maybe one of these days I'll give his mind back." He thought smugly. As Trance drifted to sleep he caught the feeling of a strange presence. "It couldn't be.They are all extinct." He thought drowsily and slipped back into a pleasant dream.
